Artist’s Statement

Making art for me means to connect with contents relating to idealism and translate them to the concrete and tangible, thereby facilitating my ability to grasp them. Curiosity being a primary motivation, I am also driven by a memory of the experience of revelation seeking further exaltation.

The selection of topics reflects an uncompromising internal sequence that leaves no alternative but to listen and perform. Later on comes an understanding, shedding light on additional layers of the subject and process. The exploration revolves around the connection between man and earth, in terms of feelings, yearnings and the tension this relationship precipitates. This agitation makes the creation of art in my life a necessity, an empowering educational and enriching dialogue providing me tools and understandings through which I traverse my days, self grow and develop…

Painting is definitely the critical bulk of my work. But there is also the sculpting evolving from an idea, or dictated by the material, as well as video art and installations. Sometimes I am interested in exploring the shape to perfection and often the idea searches the shape. I work with conservative materials and techniques but also enjoy discovering new possibilities.

I usually work on different series simultaneously. The formats vary between particularly large and distinctively small, possibly created at the same period of time. Most of my inspiration comes from observation and attentiveness, along with a deep need to understand the order of things. And indeed, making art, as I see it, is creating order.
